I have been working on this for about 4 hours now, all help is appreciated. I sometimes have an error as well, I have found it only works when connected in a certain sequence. Turn radio on 2 - Switch to clear channel 3 - Connect cord to radio 4 - connect cord to computer Any other sequence I get an error. Does the green light come on shortly after you plug in the cable or not until after after you try to start the transfer. When the cable is plugged in the lights may blink a little but mostly remain off. When the radio receives data, it goes green like you were receiving a signal. Then when you upload from the radio to the computer, it mimics the transmission so the light goes orange. Chirp Uv 5R Programming Software Driver On YourThen I figured out you had to DOWNGRADE the driver on your PC to a previous version - all detailed on Miklor.com. After downgrading, I had no issues. But, out of fear that the radio is actually transmitting, I put on my old inefficient rubber ducky antenna and tune to a frequency (not a repeater) that Ive verified is not in use. Once we as a society lose that affinity we begin to descend back into the animal kingdom, and after three or more days you will find the food chain beginning to invert on itself. Up is down and down is us and man is no longer an alpha predator. Mine transmits. I put the radio on a WX channel because I have transmit disabled on those. Kevint. Chirp Uv 5R Programming Software Download An ImageOne caveat for CHIRP: always download an image from the radio and save it. Then edit a copy of that to add your programming, and upload from that new copied image. Even within the same model (UV-5R) Ive seen some odd errors because the firmware versions are different. Kevint, I have 4 of those radios, and a USB cable I bought off Amazon. These are cheap Chinese radios so just be aware of the manufacturing process and that you pay for what you get. I had to exchange 3 of these as I found out a week after buying them that the headphone portion of the jack didnt interface well. I figured this out after buying some headsets and testing them on all my radios. With the connector plugged completely in I still had to apply pressure to the upper portion of the connector in order to get good audio from it. First thing I did with the ones I got back was test it, and they all passed. A couple things you might want to try is plugging in the USB with the radio off, then turning it on. You should do a download from the radio first, then update the channels in that tab, then upload to the radio. Now if you are still getting that error, which to me looks like a memory access issue, apply some pressure to the connector and attempt upload again. Ultimately, you will want to returnexchange for a new radio that works without any issue, but if you still have it, try my suggestions as an experiment just to see, and let us know what you get.
